The Challenge

The bank chose ThetaRay, an AI-based platform for financial crime detection, and needed a production-grade home for it inside its own infrastructure. Sending sensitive transaction data to a public cloud was not an option.

When one site isn't enough

Resilience

Keep AML monitoring running even if one data center goes down, with failover between sites tested before go-live.

  • 2 data centers
  • Failover
  • Disaster recovery
When data can't leave the bank

Security

Meet banking and regulatory standards for data protection, with all transaction data kept in-house.

  • Regulatory standards

Operability & Cost Control

Be manageable by the bank's own team after handover, and license exactly what the workload needs, no more.

  • Handover
  • Self-operated
  • Right-sized licensing

The Solution

The bank partnered with Triangu to design, build and hand over a Red Hat OpenShift platform for ThetaRay's AML monitoring.

openshift

OpenShift 4.x

A supported, enterprise-grade platform.

Availability, capacity and supportability requirements agreed with the bank's business and IT teams, then mapped to cluster topology, servers and network.

Multi-site clusters

Monitoring survives a data center outage.

Production and disaster recovery clusters run at separate sites, plus a test cluster for upgrades. Failover between sites was verified in testing.

thetaray

ThetaRay

AI-based AML running in-house.

Deployed with ThetaRay's engineers and integrated with the bank's identity management, logging and backup. Transaction data never leaves the bank.

Banking-grade security

Workloads isolated and checked.

Role-based access control, network policies that isolate workloads, and image vulnerability scanning with compliance checks built into the platform.

Configuration as code

Every change reviewed and repeatable.

Cluster configuration is managed as code, so every change is reviewed and versioned. Built-in monitoring and alerting cover both OpenShift and ThetaRay.

Licensing

Paid for what runs, run by the bank.

Red Hat subscriptions sized to the actual workload. Runbooks for maintenance, monitoring and incident response were handed to the bank's operations team.

The Benefits

The bank now runs AI-based AML monitoring on its own resilient, secure container platform, operated by its own team.

High availability

Three clusters across two sites.

ThetaRay keeps running if one data center fails. All three clusters passed the verification protocol before go-live.

Security & compliance

Sensitive data never leaves the bank.

Transaction data stays in-house, and the security configuration, test protocols and documentation support audits and regulatory reviews.

Independence & cost

Run in-house, licensed to fit.

Runbooks and monitoring let the bank's team run the platform without outside help, with licensing matched to the actual workload.
