About the Customer
Charity Hero is also working to launch a digital food bank. It aims to integrate its projects with municipal initiatives, with plans for a pilot in one city and interest from the Association of Ukrainian Cities. Charity Hero is a Ukrainian non-profit dedicated to making charitable giving more accessible, efficient, and transparent. The organization works with 23 partner companies, has received over 2,000 volunteer applications, and relies on 50+ volunteers to build its platform. Current initiatives include a digital food bank and municipal integrations, with an active city pilot and interest from the Association of Ukrainian Cities.
The Challenge
As Charity Hero prepared to launch, the organization had no cloud infrastructure to support a reliable development lifecycle. Without separation between development, staging, and production environments, the risk of instability and data exposure reaching end users was real.
Cost governance was also absent — the team had no visibility into resource consumption, a critical gap for a non-profit with limited funds. Without automated deployments, security controls, or monitoring, the platform was difficult to maintain and impossible to scale.
The Solution
Charity Hero partnered with Triangu to build a production-ready AWS infrastructure from the ground up. Triangu's solution covered every layer of the stack:
- Infrastructure & Networking: Deployed Amazon EKS for containerized workloads and configured isolated VPCs for development, staging, and production. Built a security-first network with multi-AZ subnets, NAT Gateways, Internet Gateway, and Amazon Route 53 for DNS and failover routing. IAM roles enforced least-privilege access throughout.
- Databases & High Availability: Rolled out PostgreSQL, Redis, and RabbitMQ with replication and automated backup and restore — ensuring data resilience and consistent uptime.
- CI/CD & Development Workflow: Introduced GitFlow to structure the development process and built CI/CD pipelines that automated testing, compilation, and rolling microservice deployments — reducing manual effort and deployment risk.
- Monitoring & Alerting: Deployed OpenSearch with real-time alerting integrated via Terraform and Helm, giving the team immediate visibility into critical events.
- Security & Compliance: Implemented AWS Security Hub, AWS Config, and Service Control Policies (SCPs) for continuous security monitoring, automated auditing, and access governance across all accounts.
- Cost Management: Delivered full cost visibility through AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets with threshold notifications, and a resource tagging strategy. Leveraged Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, and Spot Instances to keep spending sustainable.

Charity Hero now has complete visibility into its cloud costs for the first time. Budget alerts and resource tagging enable proactive spend control — critical for a non-profit where every dollar matters.
Technical
The multi-AZ architecture ensures high availability and automatic failover. EKS autoscaling means the platform grows with the organization without performance issues or re-architecting.
Operational
Security and compliance are now built into the platform via continuous AWS Security Hub monitoring and automated AWS Config audits. CI/CD pipelines eliminated manual deployments, freeing the team to focus on the product rather than infrastructure.
