Our client is a large organization with multiple divisions, each with a specialized function. The company’s mission is to help people stay connected digitally, providing reliable and secure technology. This enterprise strongly emphasizes customer privacy and data security, implementing robust measures to protect user information from unauthorized access and misuse.

The Challenge

The client decided to modernize their internal information portals, the primary platform for internal communication between employees and management. These portals are crucial for managing employees’ internal controls, challenges, contests, education, and personal spaces.

The primary requirements included upgrading from SharePoint 2010, which was nearing the end of its lifecycle, to both  SharePoint On-Premise 2019 and online, migrating data from the existing portal to the updated platform. Additionally, the system needed to support both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

Fundamental architectural changes were required, including:

  • Adapting the codebase to ES6+ standards.
  •  Reengineering the existing architecture to enhance its flexibility, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Revamping the user interface and layout.
  • Modifying the working environment.
  • Adding directories for more flexible configurations.
  • Overhauling the email reception and parsing approach.
  • Redesigning the message constructor’s framework and functionality.

Goals and Delivery Description

The project’s objectives were to ensure that the updated system would be fully compatible with modern browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. The essential tasks included:

  • Upgrading the codebase to meet ES6+ standards.
  • Redesigning forms and layouts to enhance usability.
  • Changing the working environment to improve user experience.
  • Optimize Performance and HW Capacity usage.
  • Overhauling email parsing and the message constructor’s design and functionality.

The Solution

Our approach to solving the client’s challenges involved a comprehensive overhaul of the existing system:

  1. Architecture and Design: Triangu modified the old system architecture to integrate new features and modern technology stacks both on the server and client sides. The team redesigned the layout and user interface, transforming the portal into a more dynamic and user-friendly platform.

  2. Code Development: New code was developed to align with the updated architecture and modern technology standards.

  3. HR System Integration: We configured the portal to integrate seamlessly with the HR database, ensuring up-to-date user data for the full functionality of each employee’s dashboard without 3rd party solutions.

  4. Data Migration: Data migration was carefully conducted using custom ShareGate scripts and PowerShell when ShareGate abilities were missing to ensure the integrity and continuity of information.

  5. User Training and Project Documentation: Comprehensive user instructions were prepared to guide employees through the updated portal. Additionally, we provided advanced detailed training to ensure users could fully utilize the SharePoint Online environment.

  6. We established a robust technical support framework post-migration to address issues and implement ongoing refinements as needed.

The Final Tally

This project significantly improved our client’s internal communication infrastructure, ensuring a seamless, modern, and secure experience for all employees. The successful upgrade and migration to the latest SharePoint platform have equipped the company with a future-proof system that supports its ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

  • Successfully migrated sites from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online and SharePoint 2019, preserving data integrity and site appearance.
  • Developed and implemented Power Platform tools in SharePoint Online.
  • Trained users to reach advanced proficiency in SharePoint Online with the help of Power Platform. It is a suite of low-code/no-code tools that allows users to create business solutions which include business process automation (Power Automate), bespoke apps (Power Apps), virtual agents/chatbots (Power Virtual Agents), and reports (Power BI).
  • Recreated InfoPath Forms (from SharePoint 2016) using Power Platform in SharePoint Online.
